Bob Jasse and his wife, Susan, created Alyson’s Orchard in the 1980’s from the ground up, literally, as the property was undeveloped. Bob discovered the land while flying over the region on his way to a skiing and hiking holiday with his family.  Struck by the setting’s beauty, the former biologist and former CEO of a high-tech firm immediately understood the opportunity he saw below.

In a 1995 interview with The Boston Globe, Bob explained why Alyson’s Orchard’s land was such a great discovery. “It was virgin ground. It never had apples,” he said, “This land is a drumlin, which is a unique feature. It’s the remainder of earth left by glaciers that pick up earth as they move.” Bob and Susan Jasse planted each and every tree after first clearing the land.

Although Alyson’s Orchard began as a retirement hobby, Susan Jasse commented, “It was a big hobby.” Alyson’s Orchard was named for the youngest of Bob’s seven children, who died as an infant. Bob Jasse passed away in 2008, but his legacy lives on through his wife and those who knew him, as well as through everyone who visits Alyson’s Orchard and marvels at its natural beauty and enjoys the snack of a freshly picked apple. Alyson’s remains the only property in the area with access for Class aircraft and helicopters, a tribute to how Bob discovered the property and to his love of flying. That was his job, showing her the sights with our black lab, Jack, in the back of his car.” Robert’s Hall is the finest meeting and gathering facility in the region.
